KOREA DAY 2014 한국의 날

여러분 안녕하세요. 오랜만이다 !

My friend Amber and I went to Korea Day 2014 held in MVEC last Friday and Saturday. As a korean language student ourself, we decided to make full use of it and spoke korean as a part of our mission.

Day 2 ( Friday)

We went straight after school at around 2.30pm. We didn't expect the crowd to be that crowded but it was. We toured the whole exhibition and sat down just in time for the short quiz session. To our surprise, we got all the answers correct! We know more about Korean culture than our own. Sadly, no one seemed to notice that ours hands were raised so we didn't have a chance to answer those questions.

We went back and found that there was no queue in the hanbok section! They helped us pick our hanboks and wore it. Everything seemed easy until the sleeve part. I had quite a hard time wearing it on. Believe it or not, it was my first time wearing one!

처음으로 한복을 입었어요!

We came across a really cool photo booth. Twas rather expensive though, RM5 for a strip. We had so much fun on the first one and decided to have another! Each picture had only 20 seconds interval so we took some time and planned everything before we pressed the start button.

They said they will be posting soft copies on their FB page so I took the pictures from there. Friday's background was a lovely purple with hints of glitter  ❤️ I love the design of the strip! It showcased a young girl wearing hanbok in a garden. I think the theme suits the event. The flowers were beautiful!

We tried every food they have there and I love the mochi sold by a few nice ajummas. They were really friendly and I just found out that you could eat tteokbokki (rice cakes) together with honey and seaweed. Needless to say, it was delicious! We also went and had kimchi fried brown rice as well as spicy rice cakes.

We spent a few hours there and went home around 6pm. We only got to watch the Korean traditional music performance which was amazing. It was such an wonderful experience especially going with someone who shares the same interest!

Day 3 ( Saturday)

Another day with Amber again since she wanted to buy more foods! (And we missed the Friday performances, of course!) I met my friend Xin-Jo and we decided to explore together. Our first stop was the photo booth. The design was better and cooler than yesterday's but only 2 picture this time.

Take 1. I found out that there was a gun hiding underneath the table full of props. I took it and shot Princess Amber of Fan Kingdom.

Take 2. Random dance party!

One is never enough so we took another!

We watched the performances and stayed there till 4pm. People probably think we're weird for staying there for so long. We spent really long talking to some lovely ajummas.

예쁜 아주머니랑 같이 사진를 찍었어요. 다시 만나요!이번 한국의 날을 정말 재미있었어요!

I felt accomplished for being able to communicate with them in Korean. Thank you to all of the kind ajummas who was willing to share a bit of their stories about living in Malaysia even though they were busy. Nobody really likes the weather, me too! :p

I look forward to meet everyone again! It was the best Korea Day in the history of my Korea Day experience! See you next year! Don't forget to visit K-Festival in Pavillion this August! Haha and Mblaq's coming!
