FIRST TASTE OF HANWOO
I found lots of 'ancient' pictures of the days when I was in Seoul while scrolling through my grandmother's phone!
I had to write more about my food hunt in Korea! Eating hanwoo wasn't a plan in our itinerary when I was still with my family. We happened to stumble across a shop that sells hanwoo while looking for late dinner in Hongdae and went in.
*Hanwoo is a premium beef in South Korea and it's very expensive.
It seems like most shop workers in Hongdae and Myeongdong can speak Mandarin. My mom ordered a set of hanwoo, dwenjang jiggae and 2 sets of pork belly.
It was 8pm local time and look what we had lmao.
Our beef and pork belly arrived within 10 minutes. I was shocked to see the amount of slices and the thickness of the beef and pork when they were served! It seems to be worth the money at this rate.
A staff thought us how to grill the beef and pork belly. I never knew that you cannot grill the pork belly directly. The steel bowl you see beside the grilling hanwoo is what they use to cook the pork belly.
It was my first time eating hanwoo and the money is all worth. As the saying goes, 'you get what you pay for'. The hanwoo was very juicy as if it melted in your mouth! It was very chewy because I made it well done. I just dislike the taste of cow blood. A prove that I'm not a vampire!
Our meaty meal ended at around 10.30pm because we took our time to savour the meat. I remember the time so well because that was my first time having to eat something this meaty at late night.
I need to hunt down the name of this restaurant and visit there again for more late night meat feast hahaha.
