THE BLACKSTAR PASTRY SYDNEY
My aunt told me about this famous watermelon cake in that she had in Blackstar Pastry. I know that I had to try it because watermelon is my favourite!! I called up Veyana and she was excited too so we went the next day.
Initially we wanted to go to the one in Newtown, but we were lazy to travel so far after a long day at Blue Mountains. We looked up their website and found that they have one in Town Hall so we went there instead. The one in Newtown is an actual cafe, I heard it's very cozy to be in. This one we had in Town Hall was just a small corner they have inside Kinokuniya book store.
Watermelon Cake
It's been almost 5 months since I came back form Australia, I forgot the price. All I remember that this slice costed around AU$4-AU$6. I would say it'll be worth it because... Just look at how pretty the cake was! The flowers on top, the fresh watermelon in the middle, the delicious cake..! I'll rate this 10/10 because its perfection. Literally.
Oh and they have pretty plates too!
Chocolate Popcorn Cake
I personally find the popcorn very hard and sticky. Maybe because of my braces that makes me uncomfortable in eating this, but it was good. The chocolate cake was delicious and not to mention it's so pretty! I'll rate this a 4/10 for the popcorn, and 8/10 for the chocolate cake. Hahahaha.
It's pretty easy to get here. Take the train to Town Hall station, get out at Exit 3 (you can see QVB on the top left corner of the cross junction). Look around and look for the Kinokuniya sign on the second floor. You should be able to see it from the station exit itself.
Location: Kinokuniya, Galleries Level 2, Citigroup Centre, 2/500 George St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia
Opening hours: 10am-6.30pm
