SHORT GETAWAY TO SINGAPORE
2016.
I have this yearly habit of travelling to Singapore to visit my close friend when I feel stressed out or just needed a weekend break.
I flew Jetstar to Changi Airport and immediately after I got out from immigration, I got lost. Previous time here I'm with my mom's friend so she'd pick us up. I was clueless for at least 1 hour trying to get to another terminal to ride the MRT.
I didn't know about the tourist pass until this year's (2017) trip so I bought the standard ticket. It actually cost more than when you purchase the tourist pass.
Noelle asked me to search for places I wanted to go, so she could take me there. Sunday Folks caught my eye and since it's walking distance from Noelle's home, we decided to settle our brunch there. Yes, waffles and ice cream for our brunch. Learning the "kiasu" (afraid of losing) way, Noelle & I went 30 minutes early before the cafe open for business. We were the first one in line (kiasu level to the maximum, right to the point where it was about to explode), and thanks to that, we got really great seats by the window! I have a post specifically on this cafe and it's currently still in the "drafting process" so I'll link it here once updated.
Noelle had to do her homework so she couldn't join me for the rest of the day. I visited Singapore Botanic Garden for a walk alone while waiting for Veyana to finish her house chores. I don't know why, but when I'm travelling alone, there's so many beautiful backgrounds for picture.
A selfie it is since there's no one to take pictures for me lol.
I thought I could spend at least 2 hours in Botanic Garden but Vey called me 20 minutes after I arrived Botanic Garden LOL. I didn't get to see much and hurried to Vivocity mall to meet her.
Every time with Vey, I end up conquering heights. We did the Megazip this time and check out the link here to see how it went! It was crazy scary though.
Check out the view that greeted us when we were about to board the monorail back to the mall!
After a great afternoon at Sentosa, Vey brought me to Ion Orchard for her favourite Japanese dessert, where I had my Yuja Tea, then we both headed to Scape to have our beloved, memories-filled dinner at Nene Chicken! Nene Chicken is a Korean fast food chain that brings back all the wonderful memories from our camp at Melbourne! Good ol' days.
NENE CHICKENNNNN!
Why don't they have this in Malaysiaaaaaaaaaaaa! Someone (or maybe me) should bring this into Malaysia's market hahaha.
I initially wanted to order exactly what we ordered in Melbourne but since 'Freaking Hot' wasn't available for the Wings & Sticks, I opted for the 'Swicy' instead. The set was around $10 (RM30+ in ringgit) but it's SO GOOD. They were having promotion for their new Rice Burger at the time I went, hence we only need to top up extra dollar on top of our set meal. I had the Chicken Ham rice burger while Vey ordered the Kimchi Tuna. Both were delicious!
The Chicken Ham rice burger.
My Swicy Wings and Sticks.
Vey ordered the Freaking Hot Tender Chicken set. We both shared our chickens and of course, this freaking hot chicken brought back memories of Melbourne. If you stalk my instagram, you would've come across a few post on my Nene Chicken squad, that's the squad that challenged the freaking hot chicken with. We were tearing up, sweating... But twas good. It may be spicy but somehow it's so addictive, you just wanna keep eating eat! Comparing to the Korean spicy noodles, this is no joke.
The next day, Vey couldn't be with us as she gotta go back t
I'm Kim Korean BBQ entrance.
Location: 1 Zubir Said Dr, Singapore, 227968
It's near the School of The Arts (SOTA) and it's pretty easy to get there! We took a taxi from Holland Village where I was staying over at, and the taxi driver dropped us off around SOTA. We passed by the prime minister's house, and the taxi driver told us that we could go in and visit the prime minister because it was an open day or something, but we didn't though I really wanted to hahaha. I love spontaneous random acts. The trip cost us $8 but it could be reached via MRT. It's just that we both slept late the night before and got super lazy of taking the MRT.
Outfit of the day:
Shirt Dress from H&M// Sneakers from Vans// Bag from Adidas
Being a totally unplanned trip it was, I just went everywhere that they brought me. Let's see when I'm going back to Singapore to visit my girls again! Definitely time for a beach day next time!
