SEKINCHAN ROAD TRIP
We got a long weekend this week as it was Wesak Day and Labour's Day so my mom brought us to Sekinchan again for her 'mandatory educational trip' also known as travel for short. Daddy went on his company trip so we went with my grandparents, aunties and cousins!
We left house at 7am and drove to Kuala Selangor.
We arrived to a fish village in about an hour! As it was still early, not many shops were open yet so we took a walk into the fish village. Nothing much changed since I last came here 2 years ago but certainly much cleaner than before!
Well, another 'lecture' I'm about to give on sharks again. We drove by a ROW of Chinese restaurants selling SHARKS AS MEAL while on our way to the fish village!
And guess what? PEOPLE ACTUALLY QUEUE FOR THE SHARK MEAL! I don't wanna count how many sharks sacrifice themselves a day for 'wonderful' humans like us. It's a heartbroken sight to me seeing people queuing for shark meat. It certainly did made me angry. You need to stop doing this, people. It's going to harm your future generations and sharks lover.
Okay I've released my anger on you readers while writing the paragraph above. I'm sorry if you're annoyed by it but it's the fact that everyone should know to stop the killing of sharks. A green paddy field can calm you down.
We drove all the way to the rice factory first to check it out since my grandmother wanted to buy some rice. There were lots of people since it was Saturday and a public holiday.
We left when the rain starts drizzling again. We were on our way out when the rain stopped. Yup, a drizzle that lasted for 5 minutes.
We then got down from the car and took some pictures. The paddy was still green since it's harvesting season is around June.
A beautiful sight of green.
Growing up in the city with all the skyscrapers and high rise building, I used to hate coming to places like this when I was younger because it wasn't clean and it's boring. As time goes by and I grew older, city life stresses me out and the village calms me down. No frustrating things to worry about, just free doing whatever you want. To me, fun is not games or go online. Fun is something I find life in and it's relaxing to think it that way.
I'm very reluctant to leave this place. The blue skies and the green field, just a wonderful combination.
We went to a fish village hoping to buy some fish but my grandmother said it wasn't fresh so we ended up not buying any. We came across this swordfish in one of the 'pondok' and had to take a picture of it since it was my first time seeing a swordfish! It looks fake though.
We went to Pantai Redang in Sekinchan after our lunch and we walked to the wishing tree first!
My cousins bought a bottle of bubble liquid and we played with it! The bubbles were huge and it was beautiful!
I'm the unlucky one as usual hahaha. The wind comes before I took the photo and stopped when I'm taking the photo. Everytime. This was the best out of 10 I could get! One bubbles hahaha!
It's been 10 years since I last fly a kite! It sure is fun to fly a kite again!
3 of the many fishes we bought because this fishmonger's fishes were very fresh.
We walked to the small fish market near Pantai Redang since the previous one wasn't fresh and my grandmother wanted to buy some fish.
"Fishermen goes out at midnight and come back in the early hours." and "It takes 2 hours from here to the sea." and "We cannot go out fishing before the sea police goes off duty as they will catch us for fishing." were the things that the fishmonger auntie constantly told us and I remembered most clearly and I don't know why.
The fishermen's boat lining up is so colourful!
Our last stop for the day was Auntie Foo cafe. We ordered nasi lemak ayam rendang, fish & chips, french fries, curry noodles, fish ball noodles and cendol!
My favourite was the cendol as I really really really love the coconut balls in it. It cost RM2.90 but the portion is quite small so I had 2 bowls.
My road trip this time was fun as I haven't travelled in Malaysia for a few years now. I learnt that there are people willing to queue to eat something that is about to extinct and also saw the beauty of the paddy field and fish village!
